Ryzen 7 4800H vs Core i5-12600H comparison
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 7 4800H beats the Core i5-12600H in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-12600H has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i5-12600H has significantly more cores than the Ryzen 7 4800H. Indeed, the Core i5-12600H has 12 cores compared to 8 cores found in the Ryzen 7 4800H. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 4800H has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-12600H. Despite this, the Core i5-12600H has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, both these CPUs have the same amount of L2 cache. The Core i5-12600H also has significantly more L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 4800H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
