Core i5-6400T vs A10-7890K benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the Core i5-6400T beats the A10-7890K in overall performance. Despite this, the A10-7890K has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i5-6400T has significantly more cores than the A10-7890K. Indeed, the Core i5-6400T has 4 cores compared to 2 cores found in the A10-7890K. But they both have the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the A10-7890K has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-6400T. Also, the A10-7890K has a significantly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-6400T CPU outputs less heat than a A10-7890K CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-6400T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
