Xeon E5-1650 v3 vs Core i5-12500H benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-12500H beats the Xeon E5-1650 v3 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-1650 v3 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i5-12500H has significantly more cores than the Xeon E5-1650 v3. Indeed, the Core i5-12500H has 12 cores compared to 6 cores found in the Xeon E5-1650 v3. It also has more threads than the Xeon E5-1650 v3. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E5-1650 v3 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-12500H. Despite this, the Core i5-12500H has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i5-12500H outputs less heat than Xeon E5-1650 v3 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Xeon E5-1650 v3 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
