Xeon E5-1650 v3 vs Core i5-1235U benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-1235U is faster than the Xeon E5-1650 v3. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-1650 v3 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i5-1235U has significantly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Xeon E5-1650 v3 that has 6 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E5-1650 v3 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-1235U. Despite this, the Core i5-1235U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i5-1235U outputs less heat than Xeon E5-1650 v3 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Xeon E5-1650 v3 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
