Xeon E3-1225 vs Xeon W3550 benchmarks

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Xeon W3550 is faster than the Xeon E3-1225. Despite this, the Xeon E3-1225 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count but the Xeon W3550 has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E3-1225 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon W3550. Also, the Xeon E3-1225 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Xeon E3-1225 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon W3550 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Xeon E3-1225 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
