Ryzen 9 8945HS vs Core i5-12600H benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 9 8945HS is faster than the Core i5-12600H. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-12600H in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-12600H has significantly more cores with 12 cores whereas the Ryzen 9 8945HS has 8 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 8945HS has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-12600H. Also, the Ryzen 9 8945HS has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 9 8945HS has more L2 cache than the Core i5-12600H. Despite this, the Core i5-12600H has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 9 8945HS.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 8945HS has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
