Ryzen 9 7900 vs Ryzen 9 5900XT benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 9 7900 performs better than the Ryzen 9 5900XT. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 9 5900XT in all gaming tests too.

With info from our database, we find that the Ryzen 9 5900XT has slightly more cores with 16 cores whereas the Ryzen 9 7900 has 12 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 9 7900. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 9 7900 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 9 5900XT. Also, the Ryzen 9 7900 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 9 7900 CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 9 5900XT CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 9 7900 has more L2 cache than the Ryzen 9 5900XT. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 7900 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
