Ryzen 9 5900XT vs Xeon Gold 6140 benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 9 5900XT performs better than the Xeon Gold 6140. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon Gold 6140 in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon Gold 6140 has slightly more cores with 18 cores whereas the Ryzen 9 5900XT has 16 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 9 5900XT. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 9 5900XT has a significantly higher clock speed than the Xeon Gold 6140. Also, the Ryzen 9 5900XT has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 9 5900XT CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon Gold 6140 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Xeon Gold 6140 has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 9 5900XT. Despite this, the Ryzen 9 5900XT has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Xeon Gold 6140.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 5900XT has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
