Ryzen 9 4900H vs Core i9-9880H benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i9-9880H performs better than the Ryzen 9 4900H. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 9 4900H in all gaming tests too.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 9 4900H has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i9-9880H. Despite this, the Core i9-9880H has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 4900H has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i9-9880H. Despite this, the Core i9-9880H has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 9 4900H.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 4900H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
