Ryzen 9 4900H vs Core i5-11600 specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-11600 performs better than the Ryzen 9 4900H. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 9 4900H in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 9 4900H has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Core i5-11600 that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-11600. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 4900H has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-11600. Despite this, the Core i5-11600 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 9 4900H CPU outputs less heat than a Core i5-11600 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 4900H has slightly more L2 cache than the Core i5-11600. Despite this, the Core i5-11600 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 9 4900H.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 4900H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
