Ryzen 9 3900XT vs Ryzen 9 3950X comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 9 3950X performs better than the Ryzen 9 3900XT. Despite this, the Ryzen 9 3900XT has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

With info from our database, we find that the Ryzen 9 3950X has slightly more cores with 16 cores whereas the Ryzen 9 3900XT has 12 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 9 3900XT. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 9 3900XT has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 9 3950X. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 3950X has slightly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 9 3900XT. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 3900XT has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
