Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 9 3900XT performs better than the Core i5-14400. Despite this, the Core i5-14400 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 9 3900XT has slightly more cores with 12 cores compared to the Core i5-14400 that has 10 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-14400. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 9 3900XT has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-14400. In addition, both chips have the same turbo speed. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-14400 has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 9 3900XT.
