With info from our database, we find that the Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX has significantly more cores with 24 cores whereas the Ryzen 7 7700X has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 7 7700X. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 7700X has a significantly higher clock speed than the Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX. Also, the Ryzen 7 7700X has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 7 7700X CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 7 7700X. The Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 7700X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
