Ryzen 7 5700X vs Ryzen 9 5900XT benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 9 5900XT performs better than the Ryzen 7 5700X. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 5700X has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Ryzen 9 5900XT has significantly more cores than the Ryzen 7 5700X. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 5900XT has 16 cores compared to 8 cores found in the Ryzen 7 5700X. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 7 5700X. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 7 5700X has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 9 5900XT. Despite this, the Ryzen 9 5900XT has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 7 5700X CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 9 5900XT CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 5900XT has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 7 5700X. The Ryzen 9 5900XT also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 5700X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
