Ryzen 7 4800H vs Core i7-9700 benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 7 4800H is faster than the Core i7-9700. Despite this, the Core i7-9700 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Ryzen 7 4800H has more threads. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-9700 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 7 4800H. Also, the Core i7-9700 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 7 4800H CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-9700 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 4800H has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-9700. Despite this, the Core i7-9700 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 7 4800H.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 4800H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
