Ryzen 7 4800H vs Core i5-12400 benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-12400 is faster than the Ryzen 7 4800H. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 4800H in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 7 4800H has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Core i5-12400 that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-12400. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 4800H has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-12400. Despite this, the Core i5-12400 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 7 4800H CPU outputs less heat than a Core i5-12400 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 4800H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
