Ryzen 7 4700U vs Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 7 4700U performs better than the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Ryzen 7 4700U has slightly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U has 6 cores. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U has more threads than the Ryzen 7 4700U. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 7 4700U. In addition, both chips have the same turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 7 4700U has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 7 4700U.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 7 4700U has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
