Ryzen 7 4700U vs Ryzen 5 4500 specs and performance

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 5 4500 is faster than the Ryzen 7 4700U. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 4700U in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 7 4700U has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 4500 that has 6 cores. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 4500 has more threads than the Ryzen 7 4700U. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 5 4500 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 7 4700U. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 4700U has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 7 4700U CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 5 4500 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 7 4700U has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 5 4500. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Ryzen 7 4700U has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
