Ryzen 7 4700U vs Core i5-1240P comparison
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 7 4700U beats the Core i5-1240P in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-1240P in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-1240P has significantly more cores with 12 cores whereas the Ryzen 7 4700U has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 7 4700U. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 7 4700U has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-1240P. Despite this, the Core i5-1240P has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 7 4700U CPU outputs less heat than a Core i5-1240P CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i5-1240P has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 7 4700U. The Core i5-1240P also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 7 4700U has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
