Ryzen 7 4700U vs Core i3-9300 benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 7 4700U beats the Core i3-9300 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i3-9300 in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Ryzen 7 4700U has significantly more cores than the Core i3-9300. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 4700U has 8 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Core i3-9300. It also has more threads than the Core i3-9300. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i3-9300 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 7 4700U. Also, the Core i3-9300 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 7 4700U CPU outputs less heat than a Core i3-9300 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 7 4700U has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i3-9300. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Ryzen 7 4700U has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
