Ryzen 7 4700G vs Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U beats the Ryzen 7 4700G in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 4700G in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 4700G has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 7 4700G. The Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 4700G has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
