Ryzen 7 3800X vs Core i9-10900F comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i9-10900F performs better than the Ryzen 7 3800X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 3800X in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i9-10900F has slightly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Ryzen 7 3800X that has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 7 3800X. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 3800X has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i9-10900F. Despite this, the Core i9-10900F has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i9-10900F outputs less heat than Ryzen 7 3800X thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 3800X has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i9-10900F. The Ryzen 7 3800X also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 3800X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
