Ryzen 7 3700U vs Xeon E5-1650 v3 benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Xeon E5-1650 v3 performs better than the Ryzen 7 3700U. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 3700U in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon E5-1650 v3 has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Ryzen 7 3700U that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 7 3700U. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E5-1650 v3 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 7 3700U. A Ryzen 7 3700U CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-1650 v3 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 3700U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
