Ryzen 7 1700X vs Core i5-9500 specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 7 1700X performs better than the Core i5-9500. Despite this, the Core i5-9500 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 7 1700X has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Core i5-9500 that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-9500. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 1700X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-9500. Despite this, the Core i5-9500 has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i5-9500 outputs less heat than Ryzen 7 1700X thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 7 1700X has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-9500.
