Ryzen 5 5600H vs Core i5-8400H comparison

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 5 5600H is faster than the Core i5-8400H. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-8400H in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 5 5600H has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Core i5-8400H that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-8400H. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 5600H has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-8400H. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 5 5600H has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-8400H. The Ryzen 5 5600H also has slightly more L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 5600H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
