Ryzen 5 3400G vs Core i7-9700T benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-9700T beats the Ryzen 5 3400G in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 3400G in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i7-9700T has significantly more cores than the Ryzen 5 3400G. Indeed, the Core i7-9700T has 8 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Ryzen 5 3400G. But they both have the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 5 3400G has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-9700T. Despite this, the Core i7-9700T has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-9700T outputs less heat than Ryzen 5 3400G thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 3400G has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
