Ryzen 5 2400GE vs Core i7-7700 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 5 2400GE beats the Core i7-7700 in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i7-7700 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-7700 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 2400GE. Also, the Core i7-7700 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 5 2400GE CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-7700 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 5 2400GE has more L2 cache than the Core i7-7700. Despite this, the Core i7-7700 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 5 2400GE.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 2400GE has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
