Ryzen 5 2400GE vs Core i5-9400F comparison

In our benchmarks, the Core i5-9400F beats the Ryzen 5 2400GE in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 2400GE in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i5-9400F has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 2400GE that has 4 cores. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 2400GE has more threads than the Core i5-9400F. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 2400GE has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-9400F. Despite this, the Core i5-9400F has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 5 2400GE CPU outputs less heat than a Core i5-9400F CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 2400GE has slightly more L2 cache than the Core i5-9400F. Despite this, the Core i5-9400F has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 5 2400GE.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 2400GE has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
