Ryzen 3 2300U vs Xeon E5-2660 specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Xeon E5-2660 is faster than the Ryzen 3 2300U. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 3 2300U in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon E5-2660 has significantly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen 3 2300U that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 3 2300U. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E5-2660 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 3 2300U. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 2300U has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 3 2300U CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2660 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Ryzen 3 2300U has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
