Ryzen 3 1300X vs Core i7-3940XM benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-3940XM performs better than the Ryzen 3 1300X. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 1300X has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the Core i7-3940XM has more threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 1300X has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-3940XM. Despite this, the Core i7-3940XM has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-3940XM outputs less heat than Ryzen 3 1300X thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 3 1300X has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-3940XM. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Ryzen 3 1300X has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
