Radeon RX 580 vs GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop comparison
For gaming, the GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop graphics card is better than the Radeon RX 580 in our tests.
Our database shows that the Radeon RX 580 has a slightly higher core clock speed. This is the frequency at which the graphics core is running at. While not necessarily an indicator of overall performance, this metric can be useful when comparing two GPUs based on the same architecture. Despite this, the GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop has a slightly higher boost clock speed: the maximum frequency the chip can reach if power delivery and thermals allow.
Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that the Radeon RX 580 has slightly more memory with 8 GiB of memory compared to 5.97 GiB. Lots of memory is good when playing at high resolutions or with many monitors.
In addition, the GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop has a significantly lower TDP at 80 W when compared to the Radeon RX 580 at 185 W. TDP (Thermal Design Power) measures total heat output from the chip.
In conclusion, all specs and GPU benchmarks considered, will recommend the GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop over the Radeon RX 580.
