Radeon RX 470 vs GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop beats the Radeon RX 470 in gaming performance.
In our comparison, the Radeon RX 470 has a slightly higher core clock speed. The core clock speed (or base speed) is the frequency at which the GPU core runs. This metric makes sense when comparing GPUs of a similar architecture or generation. Despite this, the GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop has a slightly higher boost clock speed: the maximum frequency the chip can reach if power delivery and thermals allow.
Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that the Radeon RX 470 has slightly more memory with 8 GiB of memory compared to 5.97 GiB. Lots of memory is good when playing at high resolutions or with many monitors.
In addition, the GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop has a significantly lower TDP at 80 W when compared to the Radeon RX 470 at 120 W. TDP (Thermal Design Power) measures total heat output from the chip.
In conclusion, all specs and GPU benchmarks considered, will recommend the GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop over the Radeon RX 470.
