Radeon R9 380 vs Radeon R9 390 specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark, the Radeon R9 390 GPU is faster than the Radeon R9 380 in gaming.
In our comparison, the Radeon R9 390 has a slightly higher core clock speed. The core clock speed (or base speed) is the frequency at which the GPU core runs. This metric makes sense when comparing GPUs of a similar architecture or generation. In addition, the Radeon R9 390 also has a slightly higher boost clock speed. This is a frequency that can be reached if the GPU is cooled sufficiently and has enough power.
As stated by the manufacturer, the Radeon R9 390 has significantly more memory with 8 GiB of memory compared to 4 GiB. Lots of memory is good when playing at high resolutions or with many monitors.
In addition, the Radeon R9 380 has a significantly lower TDP at 190 W when compared to the Radeon R9 390 at 275 W. TDP (Thermal Design Power) measures total heat output from the chip.
In terms of raw gaming performance in our GPU benchmark, the Radeon R9 390 is better than the Radeon R9 380.
