Pentium G4600 vs N97 specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the N97 beats the Pentium G4600 in overall performance. Despite this, the Pentium G4600 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the N97 has significantly more cores with 4 cores compared to the Pentium G4600 that has 2 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Pentium G4600 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the N97. The info from our database shows that the N97 has more L2 cache than the Pentium G4600. The N97 also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Pentium G4600 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
