GeForce GTX 1080 Max-Q vs Radeon RX 5600 specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Radeon RX 5600 beats the GeForce GTX 1080 Max-Q in gaming performance.
In our comparison, the GeForce GTX 1080 Max-Q has a slightly higher core clock speed. This is the frequency at which the graphics core is running at. While not necessarily an indicator of overall performance, this metric can be useful when comparing two GPUs based on the same architecture. Despite this, the Radeon RX 5600 has a slightly higher boost clock speed. The boost clock speed is the frequency that the GPU core can reach if the temperature is low enough. The allows for higher performance in certain scenarios.
Next up, in terms of GPU memory, the GeForce GTX 1080 Max-Q has slightly more memory with 8 GiB of memory compared to 6 GiB. Lots of memory is good when playing at high resolutions or with many monitors.
In addition, the GeForce GTX 1080 Max-Q has a slightly lower TDP at 110 W when compared to the Radeon RX 5600 at 150 W. Heat output doesn't match power consumption directly but, it's a good estimate.
According to the results of the hardwareDB benchmark utility, the Radeon RX 5600 is faster than the GeForce GTX 1080 Max-Q.
