GeForce GTX 1070 vs Arc A770 comparison
For gaming, the Arc A770 graphics card is better than the GeForce GTX 1070 in our tests.
In our comparison, the GeForce GTX 1070 has a significantly higher core clock speed. This is the frequency at which the graphics core is running at. While not necessarily an indicator of overall performance, this metric can be useful when comparing two GPUs based on the same architecture. In addition, the GeForce GTX 1070 also has a slightly higher boost clock speed. The boost clock speed is the frequency that the GPU core can reach if the temperature is low enough. The allows for higher performance in certain scenarios.
Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that the Arc A770 has significantly more memory with 16 GiB of memory compared to 8 GiB. Memory size doesn't directly affect performance, but too little memory will certainly degrade gaming performance.
In addition, the Arc A770 has a slightly lower TDP at 120 W when compared to the GeForce GTX 1070 at 150 W. TDP (Thermal Design Power) measures total heat output from the chip.
In terms of raw gaming performance in our GPU benchmark, the Arc A770 is better than the GeForce GTX 1070.
