Core i9-12900F vs Ryzen 9 5900XT specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 9 5900XT beats the Core i9-12900F in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i9-12900F has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Ryzen 9 5900XT has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 9 5900XT has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i9-12900F. Despite this, the Core i9-12900F has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i9-12900F CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 9 5900XT CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Core i9-12900F has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
