Core i9-10850K vs Ryzen 9 7940HS benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 9 7940HS performs better than the Core i9-10850K. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i9-10850K in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i9-10850K has slightly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Ryzen 9 7940HS that has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 9 7940HS. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 9 7940HS has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i9-10850K. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. The Ryzen 9 7940HS outputs less heat than Core i9-10850K thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 7940HS has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i9-10850K. Despite this, the Core i9-10850K has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 9 7940HS.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Core i9-10850K has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
