Core i7-9700F vs Core i7-6950X specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-6950X is faster than the Core i7-9700F. Despite this, the Core i7-9700F has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i7-6950X has slightly more cores than the Core i7-9700F. Indeed, the Core i7-6950X has 10 cores compared to 8 cores found in the Core i7-9700F. It also has more threads than the Core i7-9700F. Both the Core i7-9700F and Core i7-6950X have the same clock speed. Despite this, the Core i7-9700F has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i7-9700F CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-6950X CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i7-6950X has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-9700F. The Core i7-6950X also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i7-9700F has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
