Core i7-6700K vs Core i7-9750H benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-9750H beats the Core i7-6700K in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i7-6700K has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i7-9750H has significantly more cores than the Core i7-6700K. Indeed, the Core i7-9750H has 6 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Core i7-6700K. It also has more threads than the Core i7-6700K. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-6700K has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i7-9750H. Despite this, the Core i7-9750H has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-9750H outputs less heat than Core i7-6700K thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i7-9750H has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-6700K. The Core i7-9750H also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-6700K has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
