Core i7-13700H vs Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U performs better than the Core i7-13700H. Despite this, the Core i7-13700H has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-13700H has significantly more cores with 14 cores compared to the Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U that has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-13700H. Also, the Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U has a slightly higher turbo speed. In terms of cache, the Core i7-13700H has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U. The Core i7-13700H also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i7-13700H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
