Core i5-9500 vs Core i9-8950HK comparison

In our benchmarks, the Core i9-8950HK beats the Core i5-9500 in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-9500 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the Core i9-8950HK has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-9500 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i9-8950HK. Despite this, the Core i9-8950HK has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i9-8950HK outputs less heat than Core i5-9500 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, both these CPUs have the same amount of L2 cache. The Core i9-8950HK also has slightly more L3 cache.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-9500 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
