Core i5-9500 vs Core i7-9700 comparison
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-9700 performs better than the Core i5-9500. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-9500 in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i7-9700 has slightly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Core i5-9500 has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-9500. According to our data, the Core i5-9500 and Core i7-9700 have the same clock speed. Despite this, the Core i7-9700 has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i7-9700 has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-9500. The Core i7-9700 also has slightly more L3 cache.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i5-9500 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
