Core i5-9500 vs Core i5-1240P comparison

In our benchmarks, the Core i5-9500 beats the Core i5-1240P in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-1240P in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i5-1240P has significantly more cores than the Core i5-9500. Indeed, the Core i5-1240P has 12 cores compared to 6 cores found in the Core i5-9500. It also has more threads than the Core i5-9500. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-9500 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-1240P. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. The Core i5-1240P outputs less heat than Core i5-9500 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i5-1240P has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-9500. The Core i5-1240P also has slightly more L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i5-9500 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
