Core i5-9400F vs Core i5-13400F comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-13400F performs better than the Core i5-9400F. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-9400F in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i5-13400F has significantly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Core i5-9400F that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-9400F. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-9400F has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-13400F. Despite this, the Core i5-13400F has a slightly higher turbo speed. The info from our database shows that the Core i5-13400F has more L2 cache than the Core i5-9400F. The Core i5-13400F also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-9400F has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
