Core i5-8300H vs Ryzen 3 PRO 3200G benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-8300H beats the Ryzen 3 PRO 3200G in overall performance. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 PRO 3200G has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the Core i5-8300H has more threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 PRO 3200G has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-8300H. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. A Core i5-8300H CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 3 PRO 3200G CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 3 PRO 3200G has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-8300H. Despite this, the Core i5-8300H has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 3 PRO 3200G.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-8300H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
