Core i5-3350P vs Xeon W3550 specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Xeon W3550 performs better than the Core i5-3350P. Despite this, the Core i5-3350P has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Xeon W3550 has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-3350P has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon W3550. Despite this, the Xeon W3550 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-3350P CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon W3550 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. When comparing cache sizes, these CPUs have an identical amount of L2 cache. The Xeon W3550 also has slightly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-3350P has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
