Core i5-12500H vs Core i5-13400F benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-13400F performs better than the Core i5-12500H. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-12500H in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i5-12500H has slightly more cores with 12 cores compared to the Core i5-13400F that has 10 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. In terms of clock speed, the Core i5-12500H and Core i5-13400F are identical in this regard. Despite this, the Core i5-13400F has a slightly higher turbo speed. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-12500H has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-13400F. Despite this, the Core i5-13400F has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Core i5-12500H.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-12500H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
