Core i5-11400T vs Core i5-8400H specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-8400H performs better than the Core i5-11400T. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-11400T in all gaming tests too.

With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-11400T has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Core i5-8400H has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-8400H. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-8400H has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-11400T. Also, the Core i5-8400H has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-11400T CPU outputs less heat than a Core i5-8400H CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i5-11400T has more L2 cache than the Core i5-8400H. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Core i5-11400T has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
