Celeron N4120 vs Core 2 Duo E8600 benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the Celeron N4120 beats the Core 2 Duo E8600 in overall performance. Despite this, the Core 2 Duo E8600 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

With info from our database, we find that the Celeron N4120 has significantly more cores with 4 cores whereas the Core 2 Duo E8600 has 2 cores. It also has more threads than the Core 2 Duo E8600. With our hardware info, we find that the Core 2 Duo E8600 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Celeron N4120. A Celeron N4120 CPU outputs less heat than a Core 2 Duo E8600 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Celeron N4120 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
